African Violet Seed

Each hermetically sealed packet contains approx. 100 seeds (approx. 50 seeds in the packets of miniatures) and includes planting instructions. Very high germination rate reported by most of our customers. The fun of seed growing is the unpredictability factor. You may get something very ordinary, or something truly extraordinary.  Bloom colors will vary in all of the three types. Only the foliage type can be predicted for violets grown from seed. The bloom color and type will vary widely. There is no record of which varieties were used to make the crosses.  We suggest you plant only half of the seed packet at a time. That way if you have a failure you won't have lost all of the seed, and if all of those planted sprout you won't have so many to work on at a time. Violet seedlings usually bloom 5 to 7 months after you plant the seeds. 

    Each offer is for one packet of seed and includes detailed instructions, postage and handling. $9.50 per offer to addresses within the US.   For each additional seed packet you may wish to order please add $6.25 which includes the additional postage.  These rates do not include postal insurance.  If you wish your seed order insured please add $1.65 per shipment.  We offer  trays, dome covers, potting medium, and pots separately in our Supplies catalog.  The pots, soil, trays, domes, and peat pellets shown in the instructions are not included with the seeds.   Beginners will find the Green Leaf Seed and the Trailing Habit Seed best with which to start.  

    Customers outside the US:  We offer a flat rate $6 postage/handling fee for orders up to (and including) 5 packets of seed using Global Priority Mail.  This mail service is available to most countries and takes 4 to 6 days.  There is no insurance available using  Global Priority Mail, therefore there is a slight chance that your seed shipment will not reach you.  If you wish insurance on the seed shipment we use Air Parcel Post.  Air Parcel Post can be insured.  The cost is somewhat higher than Global Priority Mail.  Please request via e-mail a cost estimate from us  for Air Parcel Post w/ insurance to you. We have no on-line ordering capability.   Orders come to us by phone, fax, or mail. MasterCard, Visa, and Discover Card accepted.
